Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in the fields of film, television and the theatre. Contractor, who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around across the globe and lived through many cultures as a child. She was a boarding student in London between the ages of seven and nine, after which her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her early childhood and adulthood. Contractor was a successful academic throughout her time in Toronto in addition to her training as the ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school where she was able to study not just dance but also theater. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting more seriously at the age 16 after almost 10 years of dancing. After graduating high school, she received a full-time grant to attend Toronto's University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in the field of theatre, and a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was given the lead part in Pericles after a one-year stint at University. She was a part of the audition for it during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. The play received rave reviews and her performances on the stage in 92 productions. the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian reviewers in 2002. Contractor accepted the invitation to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course. Only eight men selected and four females accepted for a 20-week intensive course in classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed spot for the upcoming season of productions and was offered the role in the role of Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
